This lesson is about Audiovisual Translation (AVT), which means changing
words from one language to another in movies, videos, TV shows, or
cartoons. AVT is special because it uses both sound and pictures, not just
words. There are four main types: subtitles (words appear at the bottom of the
screen), dubbing (replace the original voice with a new voice), voice-over
(translator speaks over the original voice), and cultural adaptation (change
words or jokes so everyone understands). Translators must keep the meaning,
feeling, and culture of the original content while making it easy for viewers to
understand .
