Brief Description

The Systematics of Prokaryotes workshop provides an introduction to the classification, taxonomy, and phylogeny of prokaryotic microorganisms, including Bacteria and Archaea. Students will explore the principles of microbial systematics in the course, from traditional phenotypic methods to modern molecular and genomic approaches. Special emphasis, in these workshops, is placed on how systematic frameworks contribute to the identification, nomenclature, and evolutionary understanding of prokaryotes.
