By the end of this practical session, students will be able to:
- Describe the morphological and cultural characteristics of Staphylococcus aureus.
- Recognize typical colony appearance on selective and differential media (e.g., mannitol salt agar).
- Perform Gram staining and observe Gram-positive cocci in clusters.
- Conduct key biochemical tests (catalase test, coagulase test).
- Interpret biochemical and cultural results for identification of Staphylococcus aureus.
- Differentiate Staphylococcus aureus from other staphylococcal species (e.g., coagulase-negative staphylococci).
